A Plea to all Democrats to Revamp your Party!
Two senior Democratic Party Leaders:
Rep. Maxine Waters and Senator Dianne Feinstein articulate the precise conundrum within their party. Its cringe-worthy to watch these two on C-Span. In the service of trying to be fair and precise, I will quote to you exactly what these two legislators from California have stated publicly over the past few days about our turbulent times.
Rep. Maxine Water, the ranking member of the Financial Services Committee: “My greatest problem is to call for the impeachment of President Donald Trump.” She then went on to forget both the country and city where the massive bombing occurred “Aleppo”. Yet the scariest was this statement: “Trump embraced Putin and Trump and he were leading troops into Korea!”
Rep. Maxine Waters has served her Congressional District [35, 29] and now 43rd since 1991. She is 78 years old and trained at the California State University of Los Angeles [B.A]. Her district includes south-central Los Angeles and Westchester, Playa Del Rey, Torrance, Gardena, Hawthorne, Inglewood and Lawndale [Wikipedia].
During the financial/bank crisis of 2008, Waters played a key role in allowing Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac to continue their reckless behavior which led to the financial meltdown. “We have to appreciate the outstanding leadership of the African American Frank Raines [who received $90M in bonuses as CEO].
You get the idea!
Next, we have 83-year old Dianne Feinstein, the oldest person in the Senate. She is the senior senator from California and has been there since 1992. She received her BA from Stanford University and was the 38th mayor of San Francisco.
She was quoted as saying the following on February 7, 2017 [L.A. Times] : “All vets are mentally ill in some way and the government should prevent them from owning firearms.”
In my calculation, there should be about 11 million men and women who are need of mental health expertise. Of course, we should avoid owning or using any type of guns for recreation or work. WTH?
The L.A. Columnist, Burt Prelutsky, wrote the following about the sad state of Democratic politics especially in California [2/7/17]: “Frankly, I don’t know what it is about California, but we seem to have a strange urge to elect really obnoxious women to high office……
“When it comes to sending left-wing dingbats to Washington, we’re number one. There is no way of getting around the fact that last time anyone saw the likes of Barbara Boxer, Dianne Feinstein, Maxine Waters, and Nancy Pelosi, they were stirring a cauldron around when the curtain went up on Macbeth.”
“You don’t know if you should condemn them for their stupidity or simply marvel at their ability to form words.”
Let me assure you that California has produced a lot of talented Congressmen who have effectuated major political/economic changes without articulating some absurdities regarding the present or the past. I strongly recommend to the people of California that they should start to reformulate their political/economic narratives in such a way that they might want to attract that ‘best and the brightest’ of that state.
California is a huge state with many different political factions and ideologies. It would be imperative on the Californians to decide how they would want to be represented in the federal government, given the reality that we are now in the 21st Century. Ironically, it is Silicon Valley which has defined the imperatives of a binary world [internet] that will prevail over our daily lives for the next few decades. Silicone Valley needs to get with the program of representation in the Fed. Now, it is time for those hi-tech wizards as well as others to figure out who should represent that magnificent ‘drought’ state of California.
There is an old Spanish proverb:
“Tomorrow is always the busiest day of the year.”
